In WoW, there are a few hybrid classes and the Shaman class is one of those. For a long time this amazing class was attached to the Horde side while the Paladin class was specific for the Alliance side. With the BC expansion this changed and finally the Alliance players were able to create and level up a Shaman with the new born race – the Draenei.
Resembling the Druid class, Shamans can also drastically change their spec to Casters, Healers and Melee damage dealers. There are three talent builds they can choose from – Enhancement (melee dps), Elemental (caster dps) and Restoration (healer). If you prefer a dps caster that can own a damage meter, the Elemental talent build would be perfect for your Shaman. However, to achieve the best damage output you should equip gear that is rich in sp (spell power), hit rating, crit rating as well as with haste rating. With the talent points in the Enhancement tree, your Shaman will be a great melee damage dealer. Same as with Elemental Shaman, Enhancement Shammy needs to have specific gear with as much agility as possible. A special ability granted to all Enhancement Shamans is the ability to summon two ghost wolves which will help a Shaman in a fight against any enemy. This spell is very useful, especially in PvP.
A Restoration Shaman is considered to be a great healer. A Shaman has really good single-target healing spells and is also favored in raids because of his ability to heal multiple targets with a Chain Heal. Another nice and protective spell, a Resto Shaman can apply to the friendly target or himself, is the Earth shield. Shaman healers need a lot of mana regeneration – mp5 on their gear as well as the spell power.
Shamans can wear cloth, leather and mail. As they are leveling they will need to wear leather but as soon as they get the ability to wear armor made from mail, they should switch. Mail armor is always better for a Shaman since it’s stronger and has better stats. A mail armor made for a Shaman will have all the stats he will need and since Shamans use mana for most of their skills, their armor will also have intellect. Many players will tell you that Enhancement build is great for leveling. As an Enhancement Shaman you will not need much mana since most of your skills are melee and therefore your leveling will go much faster. Another couple talent points well spent would be in the improved ghost wolf form to enable you to instantly turn into the ghost wolf.
The popularity of Shamans among other classes comes from their skills and ability of summoning different kinds of useful totems. A Shammy has totems four different types of totems – Air, Fire, Water and Earth. The strength of his totems will depend on his build and in any case with the use of totems, a Shammy can boost his group drastically. Only one totem can be used per type of element, so a total of four totems can be active at the time.
The Shaman class is a fun class for leveling and playing both PvE and PvP, since they are able to change their role when needed. With many options to choose from when it comes to Shamans, rest assured you will fall in love with this class and never get bored.

This is your WoW shaman guide to using your talents. Like every other class, shamans have access to 3 separate talent trees, elemental, enhancement, and restoration. Whilst initially you will need to have a main focus, because of the dual specialization you can pick 2 main talent trees and go back and forth as the situation calls for it.

Elemental
This particular balance tree allows the shaman to be a ranged caster, just like the druid’s balance tree. Until your mana regeneration improves and you attain a very high level though, be ready to stop for mana replenishment at regular intervals.
Enhancement
This talent tree is superbly effective for soloing, and it focuses on maximizing the damage you can do.Combined with windfury weapon buff it’s possible to blow through crowds quite effortlessly.
Restoration
this talent tree focuses on healing.
It is handy for the shaman who wants to join the end game instances and raids.
If you plan to start with this tree leveling with a team or group should be what you have in mind, then you’ll be able to wipe out mobs much faster.
