Learn 3 unique play styles for the Paladin class in this World of Warcraft Paladin guide.
There are 3 main roles the Paladin can fill. The roles include that of the healer, tank, and DPS. Based on your play style find the right balance between these roles, instead of trying to do them all. In fact it may be a good idea to specialize in just one of these roles.
Once at level 10 choose which specific talent build you want. The 3 builds we’ll look at in this World of Warcraft Paladin Guide are Tankadin, Retadin, and Healadin. But in case you need to fill a role other than your primary one, make sure you have some talent and gear for all the roles.

Tankadin- Tank Paladin
Tankadins are the tanks in a group. Tankadins are formidable in battle due to their ability to inflict Holy Damage and from being hit. Tankadins are better than other tanks when it comes to taking fast hits but not so good when it come to slow hits.
The Tankadin build has 2 main challenges; one, the abilities have a short time and second you need to manage them really well.
Retadin- Retribution Paladin
Retadins are the build of choice for PvP. Managing your gear is one of the most challenging things you face here. Your effectiveness will depend on how good you manage all your gear.
Its important not to use your potions or auras too soon and don’t engage in multi combat when playing the Retadin. It better to choose high damage weapons as opposed to fast, low damage ones.
Healadin- The Healer
If you like playing more of a support role in a group then this is a good build for you. The Healadin is the healer role. Unlike of healers in Warcraft, Paladins can take a beating still heal. It important, because of the time needed to do heals, to choose who to heal and when. In a 5 man instance choose the tank as they should be the priority. Once the tank is taken care of the priority usually goes AOE DPS, DPS, ect.
Here are heals you have:
- Holy Shock- This is an Instant heal but it has a high mana cost and takes a long to cool down.
- Flash of Light- Its Fast, but doesn’t heal very much.
- Holy Light- This takes a little longer than Flash of Light but heals better.
- Lay of Hands- Varies in time and healing

In this WoW Paladin Guide you’ll learn about the Paladin and strategies specific to this WoW class.
Paladin: Introduction
In Warcraft the Paladin is the holy knight or holy warrior. Their unique play style makes them in many ways a combination of Priests and Warriors. This fact makes the Paladin class a great choice for those who like both the Priest and Warrior class but want more options in play style. Humans, Dwarves, Draenei, and Blood Elves are the only races that can play as Paladins.
Among their strengths, which I’ll talk about later, is their fantastic ability in battle. One reason for this is the fact that they wear heavy armor that can withstand heavy damage. With massive weapons such as 2 handed maces, axes, swords, and polearms they can dish out absolute distruction to their enemies.
On the other hand they’re great healers, able to heal not only themselves but also their allies not to mention they can resurrect the dead. This along with their ability to protect allies with auras and blessings make them great for groups.

WoW Paladin Guide: The Basics
Spells:
Being secondary spell casters, Paladins are able to cast spells known as Seals. They only last about 2 minutes but can give bonuses during battle such as being able to cause more damage or even generate more mana. Paladins are dependent on Mana because it’s what they use for their abilities such as spell casting.
Seals can also provide Judgment which can cause more damage or prevent enemies from fleeing.
Auras:
With a bubble of up to 40 yards Auras provide really good buffs to groups.
Blessings:
Blessings are like auras but apply to characters. With these you can regenerate your mana or increase your attacking power for about 10 minutes.
Professions:
In conclusion of this WoW Paladin Guide I’ll give you a quick look at some good profession combinations for the Paladin.
- Hearbalism with Alchemy: With this combo you can use potions for healing rather than waste you mana.
- Mining & Blacksmithing: With these you’ll be able to make your own armor instead of buying it or questing for it.
- Mining & Engineering: You can make gadgets like grenades which give you more ability for ranged attacks.

The best trade if you are a paladin would probably be a blacksmith or an engineer. Blacksmith can give you great rewards by having fantastic weapons. Generally Paladins have a great many abilities such as auras, judgments, healing and seals. Using these spells you are well equipped to fight and look after yourself, but remember you have a lot to learn until you reach the 30th level. There are many talents you should learn when leveling up your Paladin character, for example blessing of Sanctuary, Reckoning and Holy Shield.
You can also level up your Retribution tree. In this you are fighting a lot of battles, casting spells, attacking and then repeating the process. To make these battles a fast fight you need to find the seal of commands and use theses numbers to boost your Paladin leveling. The greatest thing about Retribution is you will have a lot of fun using it when out questing as you will be more capable of selectively killing off the mobs. You would not have this choice if you were using protection tree for your specs. Click here for more: WoW Paladin Leveling Guide
