I have been a web marketer for the last ten years; there have been many changes to the way people should go about promoting their websites in this time and it can prove to be a bit of nightmare trying to keep in touch with the latest web promotion changes. What worked only three years ago could now result in your site receiving a ban or penalty on the major search engines. Link exchanges, at least on an excessive basis, and buyings links to gain a high ranking are now a thing of the past. So as we move through 2009 what types of web promotion strategy should a webmaster be following?

I am not personally involved in this industry; I prefer to help people to stop stuttering and I also work within the fostering services UK sector.

It is not that long ago when a person, well at least a person that had enough money, could purchase a highly ranked backward link which would then result in their website gaining a high SERPS. It did not even seem to matter if the site that was providing the link had anything to do with the site purchasing the link. We therefore saw online poker websites purchasing text link adverts on media and publishing websites which had a high page rank. The trading of backward links became big business with many people making a large amount of money.

Google, the daddy of all of the search engines, then decided to change the rules and I for one am very happy that they did. They decided that it was no longer ethical to buy or sell backward links. This upset a lot of people, this tends to happen when money is involved, with many accusing Google of acting as God. The reply from Google was short and to the point and went along the lines of; it is our search engine and we therefore decide our own guidelines; if you want to sell text links that is fine but it may result in some form of penalty as this goes against our current. They were basically saying you can do whatever you want with your website and at the same time we can do whatever we want with our search engine. Fair play, I say. I am actually very happy with the new guidelines; it was very hard to compete with webmasters who had deep pockets etc. Now the one-man band can compete with the big corporation; hard work, keeping up to date with the latest guidelines as well as learning from the SEO experts will once again prove to be very beneficial.

2009 brings about a new watch word in the world of web promotion; relevancy. What does this mean? Well quite simply the backward links that you attempt to obtain now need to be relevant to the site that you run for them to have a real benefit. Again this surely is common sense. If a website about gardening has a link pointing to a website about camping, is this offering any value to its site visitors? Not really.

2009 is also the year when those who are willing to work hard will finally get their rewards. Some of the old favourites such as article marketing are becoming more popular than ever but quality is now far more important than quantity. Only the best articles will be chosen to be published on other people’s websites and let’s face it they have enough articles to choose from.

Ensuring that your website is optimised correctly with the main keywords placed naturally within the text of the homepage will also be essential, be careful not to “keyword stuff” your homepage though.

What is the best way to increase your online sales? How can I promote my website for free? What are the benefits of article marketing? Does article marketing work? These are questions that I am asked on a regular basis and are questions that I will be answering in this article.

I own a small business and have a number of websites which I use to promote the services that I offer. I am involved in providing online guitar lessons for beginners as well as with a company that offer a DVD duplication service. As like I am sure the majority of webmasters out there, I wanted to attract as many people as I could to visit and read the content of the websites. At the outset due to my lack of knowledge of the best ways of promoting a website I enlisted the help of people who referred themselves as SEO experts. As it turned out neither were they, despite their claims of being an SEO expert.

After some particularly bad experiences with these so called experts of the SEO industry and after wasting a great deal of money I decided to attempt to educate myself on the art of web promotion. This was about seven years ago and one of the first things I was to learn was about the power of article marketing. I started to write articles and was astonished with the results, I was gaining additional traffic that were coming directly from the articles and the websites were also obtaining higher search engine rankings.

Article marketing has stood the test of time and is still as beneficial today as it was seven years ago. Article marketing is a free form of web promotion which is a major benefit to the small businessman!

I aim to write an average of one article per day and have managed to do this for the last two and a half years, the results speak for themselves.

Are you interested in web promotion and web marketing? Have you discovered the power of article marketing yet? Are you attempting to attract additional traffic to your website? Are you hoping to make a lot of money online via your website. I am, of course, not entirely sure how you will have answered the above questions however they are ones that I most certainly would have answered yes to all of them. Taking my last eight years of experience, I truly believe that writing articles is one of the best, if not the best forms of promoting a website and in this article I am going to write about what in my opinion are the best five article marketing websites to submit your articles to.

I have been writing articles for eighteen months and I must say that I aim to continue writing more articles as a way of promoting my own websites for many more years to come. This is because it has done wonders for my own sites and also because it is a form of free web marketing. I would strongly advise any person who is looking to gain more traffic to their sites to commence writing articles asap. As a rule I attempt or have a goal to write an average of one article per day. On certain days when I have more time or when I am in the mood for it, I write a lot more than just one, my record thus far has been seven in one day.

In every day life I am involved with various products including DVD replication and a service offering cheap calls.

I would have to say that without a shadow of a doubt that Ezinearticles is the best article marketing directory on the net. It is important to be clear about their guidelines when submitting to this site as they do not accept any old rubbish, which of course has to be a good thing.

I also submit to articlealley, articledashboard, goarticles and ideamarketers.

Searchwarp used to be a favourite of mine however no longer appears in the top five.

Buzzle is another article directory that I have heard is particularly good. This is a site that I have heard great things about and is one which could possibly feature in my list of “five favourite article marketing websites” in the future.

I have been working in the web marketing and web promotion industry for the last ten years. I feel that I have gained a great deal of knowledge and experience in that time.

I have my own web promotion website and also attempt to gain new clients by writing a letter similar to what is written below to various web designers.

The way that I work is quite simple; a client will advise me on the five main key phrases for their site and then I work to gain high rankings in Google for these phrases via various methods including the all important link building. The average monthly spend of each client is £300. I am normally able to gain top ten rankings for the majority of the phrases within a couple of months and then work hard to maintain these rankings.

I would be happy to offer this service to your clients, via your company, without them even being aware that I am involved as such; i.e you adding your fee on top. If this is of interest I would be able to lower the monthly fee to £250 per client.

At the outset I would require their five main key phrases. Obviously if they are ultra competitive such as “DVD replication” I would make a recommendation to target an alternative such as “DVD replication company” or “stuttering” could be “stuttering therapy”.

Once all parties had agreed on the phrases I would then suggest possible subtle changes to the homepage and source of the site; once these are complete I then start working on achieving those high rankings.

I work extremely hard and take a pride in the way that I conduct my business. I thrive on success and it is a real buzz to see the various websites climbing up the Google rankings.

After a few months many of my clients ask about promoting additional phrases and they are able to do this by increasing their monthly spend. They are happy to do this as they have seen the success etc.

One way links is what I focus on obtaining and I most certainly would not ever thinking of “buying these links” as that was “so last year”!

Are you interested in finding out about a day in the life of a web marketer? Now, in reality no two people are the same however this article will describe the way in which I used to live my life as a self proclaimed “web promotion specialist” prior to my beautiful children were born – and what a cozy life it was.

Being in this industry as a self-employed website marketer enables one to choose the amount of hours they work and to choose when they work. There is no set routine as in your average nine to five occupation and as such one can avoid having to drive in those miserable and frustrating rush hours. This is one of the reasons why I love to be able to provide web promotion tips and advice to various webmasters.

I am the type of person who prefers to work quite late at night; due to the fact that it is nice and quiet at this time. I am able to work, free from any distractions such as the phone ringing or people knocking on my front door etc. I could therefore fully focus on the job in hand which was to work hard to obtain top ten rankings in Google for my clients websites.

As such my main working day would commence at around 10.30pm and would continue until at least 2.30am. I thoroughly enjoy working in this way and in this profession, it suits me.

My day would start at about half past seven when I would awake, clean my teeth and go to the toilet. I would however then return to bed until around eleven o’clock to gain a few more hours valuable sleep.

I would then check my e-mails whilst still in bed before making myself some toast for breakfast. It would then be a short stroll to the shops to purchase a newspaper before returning home.

After spending an hour on the phone to update various clients on their current search engine rankings I would then take a drive to the golf club.

At around 6.15pm I would eat my evening meal before relaxing in front of the television.

10.30pm – time to start promoting the websites.

I am now a fully fledged member of the parenting club and life is rather more hectic these days – but I have to say is even better than before, if that is possible.

I am now involved in various projects including offering people affordable online guitar lessons as well as providing company’s with a cost reduction strategy; something which is much sought after in a recession.

Life as a person who offers a web promotion service was, at the time, a very enjoyable one and I would certainly recommend other people to enter into this profession.

How can a company ensure that the web promotion company that they appoint is worthy of the name? Where can you find an affordable web promotion service? These are the questions that I will be answering within this article.

It can be like a minefield when attempting to pick “the right” web promotion agency. They seemingly all call themselves “SEO experts” or “web promotion experts” however this is one industry that lacks any relevant qualifications to justify such a title; this is something that needs to somehow change.

I have interests in a number of websites including ones about stuttering and about how to business cost cutting; I know from my own personal experiences about how hard it is to find a web promotion service that works.

In my opinion there is only one way that we can judge the merits of a web promotion company and that is by their past results. You may well find that many of them will shy away from letting you have access to these results – I wonder why? The web promotion specialists, and I am talking about the one’s that justify being called a specialist, will be more than happy to let you know which websites that they have been working on as well as the key phrases they have been promoting.

At this stage I would not just take their word for it and would therefore make a couple of phone calls asking something like:

“Good morning, my name is Roger. I believe that webpromotionuk have been promoting your company website and I am thinking of hiring them as well. I was just wondering how you found them thus far. Are you happy with the service that they have provided?”

Now some of you may think that this is a bit cheeky and some of you may even go as far as believing that it is out of order. It is certainly accepted in other areas of business therefore why not in SEO and web promotion? I sometimes think that some of the people in this industry think they are somehow different to any other business, and that they are actually better. Well this just so is not the case; in fact the SEO world is the laughing stock of other businesses; what with no recognised examination and so many scam artists, it really is time that this industry cleaned up its act!

OK, we all agree that your site looks the business but there is a famous saying; there is no point in having a superb looking website if nobody ever sees it. It has been “live” on the internet for at least a month but you are not receiving any visitors to the site. What can you do? Yes now is the time for the all important web promotion of the site. Oh no, you may be thinking. “I do not really have the cash for web promotion after paying for the web hosting, the domain and the web designer to build the site. There is not a lot of money left over in the budget for web promotion as well”.

This is an all too common theme and one I hear time and time again. I offer an affordable web promotion service in the UK and I have a lot of enquiries from people who had just presumed that their site would be able to achieve high rankings within Google purely by the skill and knowledge of the web designer. It is quite rare for web promotion to be a part of the service unless it has been previously agreed.

So here are my four killer web promotion techniques. They have worked for many websites including a friends DVD authoring website.

1. Start by deciding which phrases or keywords that you are hoping to achieve a high ranking for and ensure that they appear on the homepage.

2. Try to obtain one-way backward links via a link building campaign.

3. Use article marketing as it is a well known free form of web promotion that works. This is of benefit for a number of reasons; it helps to spread the message of the service/products that you provide; it enhances your reputation within the market plave and it also enables you to gain backward links

4. Add unique content to your website on a regular basis.

As well as being a web promotion specialist I am also a speech coach and these techniques have helped me to obtain high rankings for stuttering treatment websites.

They are sure to help the readers of this article as well.

So you have paid a lot of money for the web design and now have a professional looking website. Despite the fact that the site has been “live” on the net for a while you are not receiving a lot of vistors to the site. What can you do? It is now the time to start promoting the website. “Oh no, not more costs”, you may be thinking. “I do not really have the cash for web promotion after paying for the web hosting, the domain and the web designer to build the site. I do not have a lot of money left over to promote the site as well.

You have decided that the time has arrived when you need to have an internet prescence for your small business. You have started to come to terms that the internet is the future of advertising. The old favourites of paper based business directories, newspaper adverts and media advertising may soon be a thing of the past. We all have to move with the times if we are to continue to succeed.

The scary thing for many new webmasters is all of the initial costs of setting up a website. I remember all too well just how expensive it was around ten years ago when I had my first website designed and built. It was based on the subject of speech therapy for stammering and I was investing in this new site at a time when I did not have a great deal of money. I have to say that it has proven to be one of the best investments that I have ever made. The website certainly enabled a lot of people to find out about the stuttering therapy service that I offer.

The initial costs of setting up a website include paying for the design, the domain and the web hosting. Then there are the ongoing costs of web promotion; there is of course no point in having a top notch website if nobody ever visits it.

So how can we obtain a web design service for an affordable fee? Well as in many businesses it is not what you, it is who you know. It is prudent to ask people that you know if they are aware of any web designers. This may well help you to obtain a quote on what is referred to as mates rates.

The second way is to speak to freelance web designers as these people usually offer cheaper rates than the web design agencies. Many up and coming web designers start up on their own on a self-employed basis and are normally happy to offer a discount whilst they are building up their portfolio.

Life as a web promoter can be a very cushy one, choosing your own hours and working at a time that suits you. I have been working as a web promotion specialist for the last ten years and have what is known as “proven results”. In this article I will be describing what a typical day used to be like for me prior to the children being born. I love my current life however I do sometimes miss those happy quiet days when I could do what I wanted to when I wanted to.

It is the year 2000 and I have eight people/companies who I am working for. They have contracted me to promote their websites with the view of gaining a higher search engine ranking position and to increase their overall profits.

I have learnt rather a lot about SEO and website promotion up to this point mainly from reading the views of the established specialists from the industry.

I would usually work between 11pm and 3am is this is when my concentration seemed to be at its best.

This would be my typical day:

7am – This is the time that I would normally wake up; I would clean my teeth and go to the toliet before going back to bed.

10am – It is now time to start my day, out comes the laptop and we are in business. At this stage I am merely going to check my e-mail; the news, the stock market and read through a couple of sites that I like to keep an eye on such as seroundtable.

10.20am – I phone the DVD replication company to check if the discs that I have ordered are ready.

10.10.30am – It is now time for my breakfast – a nice piece of toast. I think it is time for a chill out, it has after all been a rather busy start to the day!

1pm – I walk to the shops; firstly for some much needed exercise and secondly to buy a newspaper.

2pm – I take a drive to my local tennis club to play a game with a good friend of mine.

6pm – I cook myself a quick meal before watching some more television.

8pm- I quickly check my e-mails in a short break from watching the t.v. I speak to a good friend of mine on the telephone who is arranging a service for me where by I will be able to make cheap calls.

11pm – It is time to get to work – to obtain those all important backward links and to ensure that the clients websites are still positioned/ranked within the top ten of Google for their main keywords.

3.15am – I guess it is that time again – yes time for sleep.
