Affiliate or associate marketing is frequently a difficult business.  There is much more to learn than most of us anticipated when we first started.  And the learning curve can be so steep that many simply give up.

The most frequent difficulty among failed or failing affiliate marketing enterprises is buying magical, secret plans and not putting them into action to see if they actually work.  Some are no more than buyers; they don’t even read the books or watch the videos they buy.  I hope that you are among those who will stay committed over the long haul, consistently improving your knowledge base and actually applying what you learn by taking action.  If not, please just stop reading, because you’ll simply waste money, and your business will fail, regardless.

There are two resources for affiliate marketers that I include in my recommendations.  One has to do with using a marketing approach using blog entries, not only your blogs but the blogs of many other businesses.  The system is called MyArticleNetwork.  I have described the way it works elsewhere (see that link).  Here, I am going to describe one way that it can be used creatively by an affiliate marketer.

If you use the traditional method of article marketing, you write articles and submit those articles to article directories.  With that method, your links are limited to the author’s resource box, usually published at the end of the article.  With this new system, you can put up to three links directly into the article itself.  Contextual links are much more effective.  Furthermore, the top article directories (those with the most traffic, which are most likely to show up in the search engine directories) will not allow you to place a direct affiliate link into even the resource box.  With this system, affiliate links are permitted.  You can check it out for yourself by visiting this remarkable article marketing system that directly submits unique versions of your articles to blogs and websites in your niche from its list of over 10,000 sites anxious to receive content.

The other resource is a complete educational system established exclusively for affiliate marketers who are owners of various size businesses as well as those preparing for a career as an affiliate manager.  This is a completely revamped reissue of Anik Singal’s famous AffiliateClassroom.  Singal earned recognition as one of the young entrepreneurs of 2008 by Business Week, a top publication.  Singal has spent the last two years totally remaking this ground breaking program.  I strongly urge you to sign up for the complete information before all the spaces are taken.  No joke, this will fill very quickly.

As I write this, the product has not yet launched, so all you can do is sign up on the squeeze page to be continually updated.  Depending upon when you read this article, it is possible that it will have already sold out.  Check to see if they have established a waiting list.  If so, sign up and hope that a space for you opens.

By the way, both have affiliate programs, however you must sign up before you get access to the affiliate programs.

There are plenty of places where we can learn about an affiliate marketing business, but there aren’t many places where you can find someone to do some of the hardest work for you.  Well, I may not have found that elusive source of free labor, but I know that I have unearthed what is probably nearly as good.

I do affiliate marketing, although I also sell my own information products and physical products.  My online business is made up of a number of traditional sites and blogs.  I rely quite heavily on search engine optimization (SEO) to secure traffic, but that is a long term strategy.  In some cases, I have used PPC for affiliate products with success, but more often I am lucky to break even.

So, for me, as for all Internet marketers, traffic is a very challenging part of my business.  Especially difficult are those times when I have to pass on a new affiliate opportunity because none of my websites are optimized to bring in targeted traffic for the product, so I face the age old question:  How do I send my traffic to the vendor’s site?

My approach to directing traffic to the vendor’s site is just like many other affiliate marketers, I take them first to my own site, where I ply my skills of subtle persuasion.  Then I just hope that I have been sufficiently convincing to get them to click the link that directs them to the vendor’s site so that I have some small chance of earning my commission.  I would like to make that process a bit less involved and take the prospects to the vendors a little more efficiently.

I use content syndication for all of my sites.  While I get some traffic directly from the articles, my primary reason for article marketing is its SEO value, which is considerable.  There are two major problems with the traditional approach to article marketing, especially for the affiliate marketer.  The first of those problems is that the top tier directories that publish and distribute articles do not allow links within the body of the article, contextual linking.  Instead the links stand alone in a section that they call the author’s resource box, but which screams, “Commercial!” to our readers.  Second, the major article directories do not allow affiliate links or even links to redirected pages or domains.

Finally, there is an article distribution service that solves those two problems and allows direct linking using our affiliate links which can be placed contextually within the article.  It’s called My Article Network–and, yes, once you are a member, you can join its affiliate program.

My Article Network is something of a cooperative that brings site owners (publishers) together with article marketers.  (That link will let you know what I have to say about it on one of my sites.)

Since I am writing for affiliate marketers, I’ll cut short the presell message and let sales page of My Article Network speak for itself.  I’ve been using it for less than two months, and I am a complete convert to the system.  In fact, I even set up four new niche blogs to make use of the free content that my colleagues provide.  {(Go ahead.  Click the link, you know you want to.)(Do it!  You know you want to click the link.  Come on…don’t you think I deserve it?}

Whether you are an experienced affiliate marketer or entirely new to affiliate marketing, anything that will increase your traffic and income is attractive.  I recommend two resources that will meet those objectives, and, if used properly, they should do far more than cover your costs for them.

MyArticleNetwork is an article syndicate membership service that distributes your niche marketing articles directly to related blogs which are hungry for content.  Within reason, you can set a limit to the number of versions of a spun article that you would like distributed.

The Affiliate Classroom 2, Anik Singal’s flagship affiliate learning resource, is ready to take on new members who want a university quality education in our field.  Members of the previous version reported increases in their business ranging from 11% to 40%.  I don’t know about you, but even at the low end, I’d be happy to increase my income by eleven percent any day!  Furthermore, three quarters of the members of the older version reported that they needed no other affiliate marketing resource for assistance or education.  Just think about all the savings in that one statistic.

Both of these programs offer affiliate programs.  I neither instance can you use your own affiliate link for your own purchase of the product.  Indeed, in the case of the article distribution service, you must become a member before you qualify for the affiliate program.  Both offer two tier systems, encouraging all of us to seek high quality traffic of affiliate marketers who will also be good spokespeople for the membership products.  And the fact that buyers will not be able to substitute their own links for that of our own links makes these affiliate programs especially attractive.

I have previously published overview of MyArticleNetwork, in a different article.  Here I want to share with you one of the techniques that I employ to make sure that my small membership fee doesn’t have to be covered from other revenue sources.

Not long ago I wrote a review of two products for which I am an affiliate.  I prepared that article for the built-in spinner and entered it into the system.  While I usually drive traffic (and SEO links) to my own sites, in that article I used direct affiliate links.  That article is very early in its paced distribution cycle and the earnings that it has generated have already covered my membership fee.  It still will be published on 200% more websites.  Plus, those articles will be out there for a long time, reaching new readers.  There is no way to estimate how much that single spun article that I wrote just a few days ago will eventually earn me.

Both of these memberships will help me build my business for the long term, but the best news for me is that I can make them pay for themselves.

Advertize With Article Marketing

Article Marketing is a new, powerful method for advertising your business or website. There are many reasons to use Article Marketing compared to other advertising methods.

  1. Article Marketing doesn’t cost a dime! You don’t have to pay to get traffic. Even better, you don’t risk losing money, which many people do with Pay-Per-Click advertising.
  2. Articles Consistently Bring Traffic. When you have one article that gives you 1 visitor a day, that is 1 visitor a day, every day. After a month of writing one article per day, you will suddenly find yourself getting 30 new visitors every day! After 1 year, you will be getting nearly 400 visitors a day, and this with only 1 visitor per day, per article! Now, keep in mind that articles can get dozens, even hundreds of visitors every day. With this kind of growth, it won’t be long before you have a solid base of new, daily visitors.
  3. Article Marketing teaches the importance of quality. With other advertising methods, the possiblity of instant results leads to poor websites and ads. With Article Marketing, you understand that every article you write can eventually bring you hundreds, or thousands of visitors every year. With no risk of losing money with advertising, you won’t be worried to keep working and improving your advertising campaigns.

How To Use My Article Network

The key to successful Article Marketing and free publicity for your website is to possess a certain amount of knowledge about your subject. Your expertise will show through in the work that you do and will entice others to want to read more. By sharing your knowledge, you will end up with more quality visitors, and higher conversion rates.

For example, if you have a home-improvement website, you might write an article about home improvement tips. Try to avoid the commonly known hints and direct your article toward lesser known tips. If you share the rare information that you know, and it works, customers will be so happy with the new tips that they have learned and your business will be given instant credentials in their mind.
