The excitement of 9/9/9 isn’t just because of the remastered stereo Beatles CDs, but also because of the mono versions of The Beatles albums being released on CD for the first time ever. This will actually be the first time ever that the mono mixes of some of these amazing Beatles albums will be available on compact disc.
Why should we care about such outdated mixes in 2009? Even in the 1960s mono was starting to get phased out, so what reason would there be to listen to mono mixes in 2009? Sure a lot of people think that stereo is all you need because it’s the standard these days, but for those curious about the original intention of The Beatles and their production team the mono mixes are of great interest.
The mono versions are what The Beatles (along with their production team) were primarily focused on. The stereo mixes were done as an after thought with little (if any) input from the band, while the mono mixes were slaved over until they were just perfect. Because of this many feel that the original mono mix of an album such as Sgt. Pepper is the “true” mix of this legendary LP.

The guitar will never fall out of a player’s lap in the middle of a set.
The single variation is that a few of these acoustic left hand guitars possess a cutaway and a few do not. I like using the single cutaway as it permits using the higher register, offering the player a greater range. A great number of the models I observed possess a smaller scale neck with just 20 frets. The neck meet at the 14th and you get easy access to frets 15 through 20. That is really important at the time you kick in the pre-amp and power up for leads or standout rhythm riffs.

The job of backup singing is much harder if you can’t see the singers face. Learn to watch the singer at all times. Be on the lookout for a simple nod of the head or gesture that may indicate a repeat or change of course.
Learn to blend your phrasing to the will of the singer. If you are watching the singer you can start your melody slightly after they start in order to blend properly. Sometimes you are not sure of how loud the singer will be so start quietly and gradually come up to the proper level after the melody develops. Be very aware of consonants at the beginning of a line and try to not emphasize them. It may be advisable not to pronounce a hard consonant at all as it may produce a disagreeable conflict with the main phrase.
The end of lines are just as necessary as the beginning. You can avoid embarrassment to yourself if you only will ease off your phrase as the singer comes to the end of theirs. If you follow these singing tips, watch, listen and blend in; you can be a professional backup singer in very short order.
