Affiliate or associate marketing is frequently a difficult business.  There is much more to learn than most of us anticipated when we first started.  And the learning curve can be so steep that many simply give up.

The most frequent difficulty among failed or failing affiliate marketing enterprises is buying magical, secret plans and not putting them into action to see if they actually work.  Some are no more than buyers; they don’t even read the books or watch the videos they buy.  I hope that you are among those who will stay committed over the long haul, consistently improving your knowledge base and actually applying what you learn by taking action.  If not, please just stop reading, because you’ll simply waste money, and your business will fail, regardless.

There are two resources for affiliate marketers that I include in my recommendations.  One has to do with using a marketing approach using blog entries, not only your blogs but the blogs of many other businesses.  The system is called MyArticleNetwork.  I have described the way it works elsewhere (see that link).  Here, I am going to describe one way that it can be used creatively by an affiliate marketer.

If you use the traditional method of article marketing, you write articles and submit those articles to article directories.  With that method, your links are limited to the author’s resource box, usually published at the end of the article.  With this new system, you can put up to three links directly into the article itself.  Contextual links are much more effective.  Furthermore, the top article directories (those with the most traffic, which are most likely to show up in the search engine directories) will not allow you to place a direct affiliate link into even the resource box.  With this system, affiliate links are permitted.  You can check it out for yourself by visiting this remarkable article marketing system that directly submits unique versions of your articles to blogs and websites in your niche from its list of over 10,000 sites anxious to receive content.

The other resource is a complete educational system established exclusively for affiliate marketers who are owners of various size businesses as well as those preparing for a career as an affiliate manager.  This is a completely revamped reissue of Anik Singal’s famous AffiliateClassroom.  Singal earned recognition as one of the young entrepreneurs of 2008 by Business Week, a top publication.  Singal has spent the last two years totally remaking this ground breaking program.  I strongly urge you to sign up for the complete information before all the spaces are taken.  No joke, this will fill very quickly.

As I write this, the product has not yet launched, so all you can do is sign up on the squeeze page to be continually updated.  Depending upon when you read this article, it is possible that it will have already sold out.  Check to see if they have established a waiting list.  If so, sign up and hope that a space for you opens.

By the way, both have affiliate programs, however you must sign up before you get access to the affiliate programs.

Whether you are an experienced affiliate marketer or entirely new to affiliate marketing, anything that will increase your traffic and income is attractive.  I recommend two resources that will meet those objectives, and, if used properly, they should do far more than cover your costs for them.

MyArticleNetwork is an article syndicate membership service that distributes your niche marketing articles directly to related blogs which are hungry for content.  Within reason, you can set a limit to the number of versions of a spun article that you would like distributed.

The Affiliate Classroom 2, Anik Singal’s flagship affiliate learning resource, is ready to take on new members who want a university quality education in our field.  Members of the previous version reported increases in their business ranging from 11% to 40%.  I don’t know about you, but even at the low end, I’d be happy to increase my income by eleven percent any day!  Furthermore, three quarters of the members of the older version reported that they needed no other affiliate marketing resource for assistance or education.  Just think about all the savings in that one statistic.

Both of these programs offer affiliate programs.  I neither instance can you use your own affiliate link for your own purchase of the product.  Indeed, in the case of the article distribution service, you must become a member before you qualify for the affiliate program.  Both offer two tier systems, encouraging all of us to seek high quality traffic of affiliate marketers who will also be good spokespeople for the membership products.  And the fact that buyers will not be able to substitute their own links for that of our own links makes these affiliate programs especially attractive.

I have previously published overview of MyArticleNetwork, in a different article.  Here I want to share with you one of the techniques that I employ to make sure that my small membership fee doesn’t have to be covered from other revenue sources.

Not long ago I wrote a review of two products for which I am an affiliate.  I prepared that article for the built-in spinner and entered it into the system.  While I usually drive traffic (and SEO links) to my own sites, in that article I used direct affiliate links.  That article is very early in its paced distribution cycle and the earnings that it has generated have already covered my membership fee.  It still will be published on 200% more websites.  Plus, those articles will be out there for a long time, reaching new readers.  There is no way to estimate how much that single spun article that I wrote just a few days ago will eventually earn me.

Both of these memberships will help me build my business for the long term, but the best news for me is that I can make them pay for themselves.

Much of what I learned about Internet marketing I learned for free.  When I first started, I couldn’t do that, but now I am a master.  Most newbies don’t know that they can actually find a high quality no cost course on Internet marketing.

As I’ve transitioned my business from primarily retail to earning the bulk of my income from affiliate marketing, I’ve discovered how much I spent in those early months and years on products that turned out to be worth very little, when there is a great deal of free information concerning how to start affiliate marketing available without cost.  If you know where to look and who to trust, that free information has proven to be much more useful than any of the products I bought that promised secret information that would insure my business’s success.

Anik Singal reminded me of all that recently, as he prepares to launch his remarkable online “university,” Affiliate Classroom 2.  He just released a short free report that is a perfect example of the value that you can receive from honest experts simply by asking for it.

This free report for affiliate marketers is crunched into a mere 55 pages, but those pages are packed with “read and apply” tips that are of value even to old hands like me.  I’m not sure that I’m supposed to reveal too many of the details, but I’m going to pass along some details, anyway.

After some preliminary background information, Singal uses a case study approach.  He examines three sites that represent the basic approaches to affiliate marketing: a simple opt-in site, a blog site and a product review website.  Each of these sites had one major problem.  They weren’t earning any money (or not enough).  Sound familiar?

Singal allows us to sort of look over his shoulder as he examines each site, identifies major problems and then makes critical suggestions for specific improvements.  Despite my years of experience and my relative success as an affiliate marketer, I found a lot of his recommendations could be applied to some of my own sites.

In case you don’t know who Anik Singal is, you definitely should.  He was recently named one of Business Week Magazine’s four “young entrepreneurs of 2008.”

By the way, I’m not sure how long he’ll leave this report online.  I suspect that once the soon to launch Affiliate Classroom 2 sells out, he will take down the report.  If he does, I’ll share a few of his insights in a later article.
